Veyra case study
01 · Context
High-end product storytelling often relies on video the visitor cannot control. We wanted to test a different model: a sequence the visitor drives frame by frame, where scrolling both ways is part of the experience. A skeleton watch, with its visible mechanics, was the ideal subject.
02 · Problem
Reveal what is invisible inside a mechanical object, keep every frame in the visitor's control, and hold the pace and quality of a film without the weight of one.
03 · Thinking
The decisions that shaped it
- 01
Scroll as the timeline
Five chapters map to scroll position, so the exploded view opens and closes with the visitor's hand.
- 02
Type follows the mechanism
A serif display with an italic accent sits inside the composition, timed to appear as parts settle.
- 03
Orientation and a way back
Chapter markers and a 'replay the reveal' control keep the visitor in charge.
- 04
Restraint everywhere else
A dark stage, one object and no interface chrome competing with the movement.
04 · Alternatives
What we rejected, and why
RejectedA looping hero video
It plays the same for everyone and cannot be paused at the moment of interest.
RejectedReal-time 3D
Higher production cost and device risk for a study whose goal was control and finish, not free interaction with the object.
RejectedHover-triggered animation
It fails on touch devices, where much of the audience would see it.
05 · Experience
How it unfolds
- 01
Time, revealed
The watch whole, with a scroll prompt and chapter count.
- 02
The silhouette
Case, crystal and crown separate to show that form follows the movement.
- 03
The architecture
The full movement explodes into its components, each with room to be seen.
- 04
The return
The movement closes around its centre, returning complexity to a single form.
- 05
The art of inner time
Whole again, with a replay control.

06 · System
A frame sequence is scrubbed by scroll with easing and preloading. Chapter state is derived from progress, and captions are positioned inside the composition and revealed by progress thresholds. Bidirectional scrolling and replay are first-class.
07 · Build
A single-page cinematic study with five chapters, a progress indicator and a replay control, tuned for desktop and phone.

08 · What it proves
- Creative direction for a premium object
- Precise, bidirectional scroll-controlled motion
- Front-end craft under performance constraints
- Editorial typography inside a moving composition
09 · Proof boundary
What this does not prove
- Veyra is an experimental build. There is no client, no product and no commercial result.
- The watch imagery was generated for the study, and the dial carries a different name from the concept.
- It does not demonstrate commerce, brand systems, AI or growth work.
- The image sequence is intentionally demanding. A production launch would need lighter fallbacks.
10 · Next
If the project continued
- Build a reduced-motion and low-bandwidth version that keeps the narrative.
- Pair the study with a product page and checkout to test the full path to purchase.
- Turn the sequence into campaign cut-downs for social and paid placements.

Websites that play like a short film
This concept shows the kind of website we plan, film, build and host for a business.
